Kevin Parrish wants the Invicta Dynamos to maintain the form that has seen them win their last three games.

After a difficult start to the season, the Dynamos got their fine run going with back to back wins against the Oxford City Stars, winning 11-2 in the NIHL Southern Cup and then beating Chelmsford Chieftains 4-3 in the South East Trophy.

Last weekend, the Dynamos took to the ice at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham looking to keep their run going and at one stage it looked as though they were going to be condemned to a defeat as they trailed the Romford Raiders 4-1, but an inspired third period display saw the Dynamos go on to win the NIHL Southern Cup game 6-4.

Speaking exclusively to KSN about the past few weeks, Head Coach Kevin Parrish admitted he was thrilled to see his side finally starting to fulfil their potential:

“The last three games have been a bit of a turning point and I have been asking the boys to start turning the corner. We’ve done that for those last three games, but you can’t say the season is over because we have won those three games.”

“We’ve got to now move on and make sure we win a fourth game, a fifth game, a sixth game. We’ve got to take it a game at a time and do what we did on Sunday and show a bit of character.”

“To be 4-1 down and then win 6-4 was a great result, especially in front of our own fans. They really enjoyed it and they got their money’s worth that night!”

“A couple of guys really put their heads down after the second period and it was good to see our side be on the right side of a comeback like that.”

Most coaches will be left scratching their heads as to why their side hasn’t performed and Parrish was the same at the start of the season, but the Dynamos coach believes it is all down to the players wanting to succeed:

“We sat down and had a chat about where we thought we were going wrong. We identified some of the problems we have and although all of our problems aren’t solved, we are trying not to dwell on the problems and looking at the positives.”

“We’re also trying to inject some humour into it, keep it light hearted and keep it positive. We’re trying to let the guys play with smiles on their faces and I think they play a lot better when they’re enjoying their hockey.”

“The boys are away from their families at the weekend and we need to make sure they are enjoying it and the best way to do that is by keep winning hockey games.”

This weekend sees the Dynamos head to Bracknell to face the Hornets in the NIHL Southern Cup on Saturday before returning to Gillingham to play the Wightlink Raiders in the league on Sunday evening.

Back to back wins would carry on the good form Parrish has been craving all season, but crucially would see the Dynamos begin to show the rest of the teams that they are to be a force to be reckoned with:

“We went to Bracknell earlier on in the year when we weren’t playing particularly well and lost 3-2, so we owe them one. We want to win this cup and having come bottom in the trophy, we want to go on and win the cup.” said Parrish.

“Moving on to the Wightlink game, we want to keep our league form going and although they have got to travel to us and have bus legs, we’ve got to make sure we start strongly and get those fourth and fifth wins in a row.”
